Accreditation

An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission accredits and certifies more than 19,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards.

The Joint Commission conducts unannounced inspections of the ASC’s it certifies approximately every two years to ensure they continue to provide high quality care. Joint Commission accreditation is a validation of our commitment and success in providing quality care and focusing on patient safety.

Although there are many organizations that certify ambulatory surgery centers, Joint Commission is known to have the strictest regulations and highest standards.

We are pleased to announce that the Children’s Dental Surgery Center has been of accredited for meeting or exceeding rigorous standards of excellence set by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and Medicare since 2003. The Center also has the distinction of being the first pediatric dental surgery center in the nation to be accredited by JACHO.

To maintain accreditation, the Children’s Dental Surgery Center must also:

• Perform focused standards assessment with action plans to address any compliance issues.
• Submit data every three months about how it treats certain conditions.

Submit to unannounced on-site surveys a minimum of once every three years. During an accreditation survey, The Joint Commission evaluates an organization’s performance of functions and processes aimed at continuously improving patient outcomes. For instance, surveyors select patients based on established clinical service groups and conduct patient/unit tracers to review the services patients received. Surveyors also use on-site observations and interviews and review documents and information requested to evaluate compliance
